the face of the wheel has these fine ridges, and the inside edges of the spokes are rough raw aluminium. im not sure how well it would hold up if i left them as is. maybe start oxidizing and be a pain to maintain.
oh and i was thinking dark grey. But i want a finish that will last, I dont want it chipping off during tire changes. If i paint, i will be doing it myself with cans, i have to find a cheaper powder coater before i really consider that. the only powder place i have talked to wanted 120-150 a wheel

should i worry about the heat of powder coating effecting the wheels strength?

IMO the black wheels don't fit the truck, there is nothing to tie it together.

I pick up nails all the time working in residential construction, so tires are coming allot for flat repairs. i want something the machines wont chip and mess up, having to be touched up every single time.
+ not crazy about white on white

Powder coat is going to be the toughest.... 400F for 45 min... won't hurt your aluminum wheels...
Some tire changing machines are better than others as far as scratching the rims... Some operators are better than others... get the tape on wheel weights instead of the clip on weights... Color.... Gray... That's a lot of wheel well to fill... Going with beefier tires? Anyway.... that's my $0.02 |
