Yeah, didn't really wow me. I like it, but I don't love it.

And to think what VAG is doing with Audi's styling with the A/S5 and the new A4, I'm surprised at what they did.

Don't love it, don't hate it.

We criticize it's styling but really these cars are the bread and butter of VAGs lineup. Selling a million of these safe cars is what subsidizes them developing all the other great products with limited numbers.

Although I think VAG lacks some passion in their interior designs, they are very nicely laid out and they work so well. They aren't perfect, but they are still tops in the market, especially for their price range.

i guess what we fail to understand is what a huge leap VW took going from the mk4 to the mk5, granted they took a huge risk in that styling decision to completely change the mk6 seems foolish. i respect that vdub went conservative on this facelift after their surgery creating the mk5

Definitely think the interior is a step in the right direction.

Default VW Golf Mk6 GTI!

Quote:
The 2009 Volkwagen Golf GTI has made its official debut today at the 2008 Paris Motor Show today, but it will be a few weeks if not months before anyone, let alone us, gets time behind the wheel to sample this rapid rabbit. Fortunately we've found some video of the new GTI being driven somewhere in the world by people other than us, and it looks like they're having fun doing it. GTI-ophiles will get their choice of three- or five-door models when the car arrives, though both will be powered by the same 2.0L TFSI four-cylinder producing 210 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual or DSG is offered, and new for '09 is an XDS electronic limited-slip differential.

nice... but it looks to me like a Scirocco front with a Touareg rear.and with the price range... the Scirocco is more appealing than the three door GTI and it has the same engine I don't know why VW did that??

Agree with ya there! i'm guessin that VW have used the same engine again to save money... but yes the Scirocco is better looking but then it always has been when compared to the Golf, the Corrado VR6 always looked better than the MK3 Golf

I <3 the VW Corrado.. wish they would re-release it. I like the MKV GTI much better than the MKVI

VW seems to be consistently making each of their cars uglier with every generation.

Not bad looking, certainly no worse IMO than the MkV. I still think they need to get rid of the dubtastic wheels and really think they're making a mistake not giving it more of a power bump. 210hp might keep it competitive to MCS JCW power-levels but there's a lot of cars putting more down like the Lancer Ralliart (237hp, AWD), Mazdaspeed3 (270-something), Caliber SRT4(300ish) and others. I think it needs maybe 230hp or more to really stir up some attention outside of the typical VW and Euro enthusiasts.
