Default Rev's Bike

Moving to Philly has helped me decide that I really need a project vehicle that isn't my DD. So the Mini is going on ice of the foreseeable future.

So I bought a cheap old Honda and I am going to spend the winter freshening it up.

Its a 1979 CB650 and its actually not in terrible shape. Lots of little things are broken but mostly its the stuff I would have stripped or replaced anyway lights, gauges, controls, etc

Here it is right before I brought it home

And by the end on the first week

Lots of parts on the way but mostly its pretty simple stuff. Replacing the air box with cone filters, got a set of clip ons.

Plans are to clean up the wiring and get rid off a bunch of the stuff I don't need.

I will be cutting off a lot of unnecessary brackets, building my own seat and probably exhaust. I am sure other things will pop up along the way.

Got air filters as well, small thing, but it is a huge improvement over the original plastic airbox.

Very nice! Great platform.

Chop that frame, build a nice seat, and you're in business. Diggin' it!

Nice! I'm using the same speedo/tach combo. Are those the Tarozzi high rise clip ons? I'll be curious to see how you like them.

Very nice. I just ordered the same gauges yesterday. Still not sure which clip-ons I'm going with. We should start a CB thread now that a few of us are modifying them on here.

Yea, Tarozzi Bars. So far I like them, very adjustable, I'll reserve final judgement till I use them on the street.

+1 on the CB thread Drew. Maybe MU CBs on the Dragon when they are all finished?

I've got more terrible pictures of the bike.

Last big pieces of fabrication are done, rear blinkers and seat pan. Still need to make a battery box but other then that I am done modifying.

Wheels are out having new tires mounted right now.

I redid the rear mount on the tank so that the front of the seat pan and the tank can share the same mount
