That makes sense.

Yeah, most of what I read had the dates in the same time frame you posted earlier. At this point, it doesn't even matter to me. It's been so long, what is another few weeks. [shrugs]

Besides, I'll have Black Ops at midnight tonight.

As long as it doesn't get completely canceled, I'll be happy. The last thing I need right now is another means of procrastinating

Looks like they've announced the date as the 24th.

though like the Kotaku article says, "Why do I sound so doubtful? Because in the world of video games, to misquote Mark Twain, there are lies, damn lies and Gran Turismo release dates."

As was pointed out in the comments, there is no year listed in the article sooo... It may not be released until November 24, 2011, or 2012, or, etc...

I gotta say that I'm a little sad in not only the carry-over car list from GT4/GT5P, but the track list as well.

The car list has about 20 new cars, all of them over the top Ferrari's and other types of supercars. Why in the six years of development did Polyphony decide that the cars like the new Fit wasn't worth putting in the game? If I want to play a racing game where the minimum horsepower per car is 400, I'd play Need For Speed. Hell at least the R56 made it into the game...

My biggest gripe is with the tracks. The "Official List" on GTPlanet shows 27 tracks. GT PSP had more tracks. I know there will be a track editor, but it comes at the cost of Infineon Raceway, Twin Ring Motegi, MotorLand, Hong Kong Circut, Seol Circut, New York, and Seattle. I hope to all that is evil that a DLC of tracks comes out.

Again, this is all speculation. There could be more cars, and more tracks, but come on really? If GT5 is nothing more than GT4 with a few more cars and a track editor, I'll buy a XB360 and go race on Road Atlanta in an ALMS car in Forza 3.

Here's to hoping.

Actually, according to the car list on GTPlanet there IS an 01 Honda Fit that's on there. But I see your point; it seems like there's a lot of repetition in the tracks and cars from GT4. But then again, it's not there's been a shitload of really cool cars that have come out since then that ought to be included (that already aren't.) I don't give two shits if the '08 Toyota Corolla isn't in there cause it's a boring ass car and I wouldn't want to drive it in a game much less in real life. But hey, at least there's a 98 "classic" Mini in there.

Plus, who knows, there might be some DLC tracks and cars in the future.

I think an interesting point about the cars is the Premium and Standard formats. Seems like a lot of the Premium cars are the same cars from Prologue. What have they been doing for the last year? Is there something I'm misunderstanding with the Premium and Standard cars? Are premium the only ones with in-car drivers and interiors? All the standard ones are just gonna be external and front bumper cams? Is this right?

I believe that the premium cars are going to be the ones with damage modelling and all the standard cars are gonna be like all the cars from Prologue (drivers, interior views, no damage.) I could be wrong though; I can't access GTPlanet or any other game related site here at work.
